OK - a lot has been done and the date is looming.

I have gotten a new project in the meantime so my free time is limited - hence the lack of posts.

We have purchased the 1/2 pint tankards with the logo that Andrew has designed - the logo is great and looks nice and simple on the glass. They arrive next Tuesday.

Food is next on the agenda - Tesco here we come!

OK - It's been a while but now we have moved a little bit on the Festival.

I like the name Bacchanalia - from the Roman god Bacchus - meaning wild and raucous party. It has an appropriate ring to it!

The date is looking like the 25th April - although a number of people have already expressed reservations. We should have a confirmed date soon.

The tankards have been selected and I have found a company that will do a small batch and keep the price down to around £6 a glass - this will leave about £4 each for food and prizes for the winning beers.

Andrew B has done some fantastic design sketches for us - we have agreed on a more modern design - the barmaid design looked a bit more Carry On than we wanted and the shield design was a bit old fashioned. All we need now is the final design.

Now we have the Christmas holiday behind us it is time to get moving with the beerfest. First of all we need a name - to aid that process I have put a polling gadget into the sidebar - please feel free to vote on your favorite.

We also need a logo to go on the glasses, as well as a site that will print onto beer glasses for us.

Beerfest 2009 - The beginning...

Dear all,

I have just started this blog after a couple of pints down the Crispin with Jon's Beerclub buddies and we thought that a blog was necessary to pull together all our ideas for the 2009 Beer festival that Jon and I are considering hosting.

Things discussed:

1. Categories of beers - do we group beers by type or country? I say type but the debate is still open...

2. Scottish beer is shit - thanks to the Queen's Head for that one.

3. How much beer do we need? 1/2 pint each.

4. How many people are coming? 20 sounds about right.

5. Can we not do the 4th April? Provisional date the 11th then.

Please feel free to comment - I shall post more info up here as I get it.

I need to start moving on the design for a glass - I shall be posting some more ideas here soon.
